SEECI will only accept manuscripts submitted through its editorial management platform, Open Journal System (OJS). For technical issues, authors may contact: editor@seeci.net. Once the manuscript has been received, the system will generate an automatic acknowledgment of receipt, which will be sent to the authors via email.

  1. Preliminary Review

The receipt of the manuscript does not imply its acceptance. If the manuscript presents minor structural or formatting deficiencies, the editor may request corrections from the authors before proceeding with the peer review process. In this case, a maximum of 10 calendar days will be granted for submission of the corrected manuscript. The submission date will not be recorded until the corrected version is properly received.

Additionally, the Editorial Board will carry out an initial evaluation to verify that the manuscript meets the criteria of clarity, relevance, thematic pertinence, and complies with the Author Guidelines and the Checklist. Failure to meet these requirements will result in automatic rejection. Authors of manuscripts not accepted at this stage will be notified of the decision within a maximum of 15 weekdays.

To streamline the editorial process, the editor reserves the right to make basic formal modifications that do not affect the content of the text.

  1. Peer Review

Once the preliminary review is passed, the manuscript will undergo a double-blind peer review by two external expert reviewers, selected according to their area of specialization and with no institutional affiliation with the author or with SEECI’s editorial bodies. Reviewers will assess the manuscript confidentially and anonymously, using the review form provided. In cases of substantial disagreement between reviewers, or when the editor considers a report insufficiently justified, a third reviewer may be appointed.

The total duration of the editorial process will largely depend on the number of revision rounds required. Nevertheless, the average estimated time for this phase is 30 to 60 calendar days, with a maximum of 90 days for the full scientific evaluation. Review reports will be sent to the author along with a decision: acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection.

If necessary, the manuscript will be resubmitted to the reviewers to continue the evaluation process until a final approval or rejection decision is reached.

For each review round, authors will have 5 to 10 calendar days to make the required corrections, depending on the complexity of the requested changes. SEECI allows a maximum of three rounds of revision. If no approved version is achieved by the end of the third round, the manuscript will be rejected, as it will be understood that the necessary corrections have not been adequately addressed.

In all cases, authors must submit a justification for the changes made and, if applicable, a rationale for any discrepancies with the reviewers’ observations.

  1. Editing and Proofreading

Once accepted, the manuscript enters the editing and proofreading phase, which includes orthotypographical, bibliographic, and stylistic revision. The estimated time for this phase is 15 business days, although it may vary depending on the authors' response time to the requested corrections.

  1. Translation

Subsequently, the manuscript will be translated into English or Spanish, depending on the original language of submission. SEECI accepts submissions in Spanish, English, French, Italian, and Portuguese, and publishes all articles in bilingual format (Spanish-English). The estimated time for this phase is 10 business days.

  1. Production and Publication

Once the editorial process is complete, the final version of the article will be sent to the author for final approval or confirmation. At this stage, the author may only request orthotypographical corrections, not content changes.

Upon approval, the article will be prepared in all formats in which the journal is published (PDF, EPUB, HTML, XML, in both languages), and the corresponding metadata will be assigned and activated.

Since 2021, SEECI has implemented a continuous publication system, uploading articles individually as soon as the editorial process is completed, in open-access electronic format.

It is important to note that all mentioned timelines are approximate and may be affected by various factors, such as reviewer availability, the complexity of the manuscript, and the efficiency of communication between the authors and the editorial team.
