Reflections on the Challenges Facing Women within the Entry, Permanence, and Promotion inside the National System of Researchers

Abstract
The article explores the situation of women in the field of research in Mexico, using as a reference the case of women who are recognized by the National System of Researchers (SNI) at national level and at the University of Guadalajara. The aim of this article is to reflect on the challenges faced by researchers in case of entering, remaining and be promoted inside the SNI. The advancement of SNI researchers is recognized, however, the described challenges and difficulties highlight the need for radical and structural changes in the definition of evaluation criteria appropriate to the life trajectories of women. In addition there is a need to change the criteria and rules shaping the evaluating and advising committees of the SNI to allow the participation of more women.
