Peer Review Process
Process of evaluation of the manuscript : The manuscript selection process is carried out under the principle of peer review, following the double-blind system (anonymous reviewers and authors) and by reviewers outside the journal. The approval or rejection of the publication of a manuscript will be sent to the author by the editor of the journal.
After the submission of the manuscript, an initial assessment is performed in which the editor checks:
a) that the manuscript is scientific, which involves the use of rigorous methodology, contrasting sources and appropriate content structure
b) that the wording and consistency are those required of a scientific paper
c) that the article is related to the purpose and scope of the journal’s theme.
d) that it complies with the formal and ethical requirements demanded by the publication according to the regulations available in: 1- SUBMISSIONS AND RULES 2- ETHICAL CODE
The editor will inform the author within a period of two weeks as to whether the manuscript has been rejected or accepted.
In case the manuscript presents superficial problems of structure and/or form, the editor will send relevant suggestions to the authors to be corrected before the manuscript is sent to reviewers. In this case the author will have a maximum period of two weeks for delivery to the editor of the corrected manuscript.
Length of manuscript review process: the average time spent by reviewers of the Revista de Comunicación de la SEECI is 30-60 days. The editor will send the author the review report received by him, and the recommendations (if any) to revise the article, or failing that, the decision to reject the manuscript together with the review report. Where necessary, the manuscript will be sent back to the reviewers to continue the review process until they decide on rejection or final approval. In each case, the author will have 30 days to submit the manuscript to the editor, corrected, along with a rationale for the changes, as well as those discrepancies involving no modification of one or several of the points raised by the reviewers.
Selection of reviewers: Two reviewers are selected, corresponding to their scientific level (for which the reviewer must have a degree equal to or higher than the principal author of the manuscript under review) and field of specialization (which guarantees a judgment of value based on expert knowledge of the subject). Moreover, reviewers are outside the institution of the author as well as the committees and editorial organs of the journal.
Where:
a) a contradiction exists between the judgments made by the reviewers (for example, one reviewer believes that the item must be rejected and a second reviewer makes a judgment favorable to its publication with minor changes) or
b) the editor is not completely convinced by the justification accompanying the judgment issued by a reviewer, the item will be sent to a third reviewer. The magazine has a database for internal use which processes and records the transfer of items and the set of evaluators.
The report of the reviewers: reviewers will be guided by the template which the journal has designed for the evaluation process, in which are stated the following:
a) originality of the manuscript;
b) methodology;
c) quality of the results and the conclusions and consistency with the goals outlined in the manuscript;
d) clarity of language used;
e) compliance with the standards of the journal;
f) ethical behavior befitting the norms applicable to scientific research and
g) relevance and topicality of the bibliographical references consulted.
Dismissal of the article: The author or authors will be informed of the dismissal of the manuscript submitted, with the reports of the evaluators attached. In this case, the author/s may express their agreement or not with that opinion, as well as any other opinions or questions they wish to raise, to be answered within a maximum time of 15 days.
